1992 Wrestling

State Tournament, 2nd Place.

Coach Curt Christenson. Record of 20-5. With a dual meet record of 20-5, the Pioneers finished a close second to Harvard in the state tournament, held at Redbird Arena. Won 11 out of their first 12 matches. Placed 3rd in the Clinton Tournament, 1st in the Prairie Central Tournament, 3rd in the U-High Tournament and 3rd in the Interstate 8 Tournament.

At the U-High regionals, the team took first allowing them to host the Team Regionals, and 7 individuals qualified for sectionals. The Pioneers defeated Clinton in the team regionals by a 33-19 decision. At the Individual Sectional, freshman Matt Neibur (112), junior Kurt Hudson (119), and seniors Corey Christenson (160), Stephen Wilson (189), and Rich Corry (HWT) qualified for Individual State. Hudson and Wilson finished 4th, while Christenson was the state champ.

At the team sectionals, U-High defeated Illini Bluffs 43-21. At state, the Pioneers wrestled conference foes Mahomet-Seymore and won 25-22. In the Semi-finals, U-High defeated Hillsboro 43-22. In the Championship match, the Pioneers came up short to Harvard, 27-33.
