District Champions.

Coach George Girardi. Won third consecutive Corn Belt Conference championship and second straight District Tournament title. Seniors Greg West, Dan Satorius, and Jim Neal, along with junior Bob Scott, all of whom captured more than 20 matches, paced the team to a 114 dual meet record. Mark Murphy joined West in advancing to the State Tournament, where West placed fifth. Only bad breaks and upsets prevented more Pioneers from qualifying for the State Meet. West was voted Most Valuable Wrestler by his teammates.
